Some months back I was ticketed for "running" a red light in Rosemont, IL. What a total sham!
I am filing a Class Action Lawsuit against the City of Rosemont IL. If you are interested in joining this class action lawsuit, please post.

This happen to me in Rosemont, I contested the ticket the fire ambulance was in the area. According to # 6 for a defense I was still liable to pay the ticket. I would like to join this lawsuit. I will pay my ticket of $100.00. I will submit a letter to States Attorney office. It's ashame! but it's sad to say moving out the way of ambulance is supppose to save a life.
ReplyDeleteI was just notified I have a red light violation from the Village of Rosemont by National Car Rental on June 3rd. I don't have the specifics of where the violation took place yet but I'm bookmarking this site for future reference.
ReplyDeleteSame with me, It happened at River and Higgins Intersection where the sign is posted as "NO TURN ON RED WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT". I stopped at the Right Lane to make Right Turn before the white lane and made sure that there is no pedestrians and no thru-traffic and safetly completed Right Turn, but the camera flashes and sent me a ticket through mail. The photo clearly specifies that I stopped before the white line and stopped for 6.1 sec before completed the right turn, All this happened around 3:38AM (Morning).
ReplyDeleteSUE THE FUCK OUT OF THEM! THIEVES! What a piece of crap city, they have to rip off the business travelers that give the city the vast majority of its income. I will never stay or do business in Rosecunt IL again.
ReplyDeleteI just got a call from a collection agency. Apparently I got a ticket in this same red light rip off, but never received it in the mail, and now they are telling me I owe $200 for a ticket I've never seen! I would have been making a right turn on red as well.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone going forward with this class action suit?
I have never caused a red light ticket to be issued to me, but as an automotive expert witness my son got one in Chicago for which I had to pay. I have researched RLCs for over three years. I have testified at administrate hearings and know them very well. I have found a significant technical flaw in every RLC video I have reviewed. I download and examine the videos. Let me know if you are interested in these findings. GOOGLE "MrBFagel"
ReplyDeleteBarnet Fagel
I have also just received a collection notice in the amount of $200 for what I assume to be a red light ticket that I never received. I am always extra careful at this light and still got burned.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad you are not the only one.I have two tickets right on red that i have not payed $444 with the extra charges from 2009.What can they due if you don't pay.
ReplyDeleteI'm joining the class action! Same situation at the same intersection as the one posted 07/21/2010.
ReplyDeleteMy wife just got one at Mannhiem & Higgins. I looked at the video, she yielded, on a turn on red, with no pedestrians and no cars in the intersection. I called the number on her ticket and they trying to give me some lame story that the no turn on red means no turn on red. The no turn on red is only true if pedestrians are present. This is another way for the corrupt village of rosemont to suck money out of people.
ReplyDeleteI just got one at this same intersection while driving Hertz rental. I checked google maps to verify there are "No turn on red" signs and there are - but don't seem to be well-placed. I am not happy but have paid the $100.
DeleteSame situation for me, I paid the ticket against my feelings to avoid fee's & drama. If you go through with the lawsuit-keep me posted please :)

I found out that I had several tickets at the higgins intersections for the same sign that stated "NO TURN ON RED WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT", that I never received notice for;only after being denied credit and pulling my credit report to find $1600.00 in fines. After contacting them about the matter a credit agency started harrassing me every day stating that I had to pay all the money in a week or else. I tried explaining that I was working with them personally on the matter and they just kept being rude about it saying I would go to jail, my license would be suspened etc... The village took off half which were late fees. And now told me that I have to pay $800 in a month all at once. They are not willing to take payments, I have to pay it all at once or it goes back to the credit agency.I am like this is totally a rip off. So I am so for the law suit. Keep me posted because I was looking into one myself. This was on my record for over two years and I knew NOTHING!!! Now they are demanding the money once I contacted them trying to do right.
ReplyDelete've stayed at the Sheraton on this corner two nights a week for the past 12 weeks, and I eat at the restaurants over by the arena. I just received a right turn on red ticket for the corner of Mannheim and Higgins...1.3 seconds after the light turned red. Hell, I wasn't looking at the light over my left shoulder...I was looking at the car in front of me and the traffic coming down Higgins. There is a damn merge lane here, which implies that a right turn on red is a normal thing to do, even more so than in normal American intersections without a merge lane.
ReplyDeleteSuffice it to say, I plan to move further away from O'Hare (outside of Rosemont) for my hotel stays and dining. This is the biggest rip off I've encountered. This has nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with ripping off unsuspecting out-of-towners.
I just learned that Thrifty Rental Car paid, on my behalf, $100 from my Debit Account to Rosemont. This was my first, and hopefully last, time staying in Rosemont. I remember the camera flash, and thinking to myself, that must be for the other guy, because I was already in the intersection on yellow, and it flashed before I cleared the intersection. Rosemont Sucks!
ReplyDeleteI received a call from Northwest Collectors regarding a right turn on red violation somewhere in Rosemont....I never received the ticket.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the status of the class action case?
This the behavior would not be a surprise to encounter in some corrupt third world country...what's up citizens of Rosemont???
The fact is, in most cases a company owns all these camera's and they promise communities revenue without any net cost to put them in. It is theorized they "pay off" politicians to get them approved and then the community puts in place the no turn on red signs where there is usually no accident data to support such a restriction. This maximizes income....
The companies owning these cameras need to be targeted by the public, they are equally guilty parties here. What company owns the cameras or claims they sold them to Rosemont, anyone know??
It is time to take the streets and our community back from corruption like this...I'm going to find out which politicians are linked to this and have a face to face meeting and then off to the State's Attorney office.
I have a company car. Ourlease company paid a redlight ticket and back-charged my company. I cannot view the violation - I assume because it is already paid. And, I've tried repeatedly to send an email to "support@redlight.com" (I clicked on the link at their website) and the emails do not get through. I have no recourse but to reimburse the company. I will NEVER fly out of O'Hare again or pay their ridiculous tolls, nor will I shop in Illinois ever again. They will lose much more than $120 in this deal. May Illinois politicians rot in their corrupt state.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a scam... obvious abuse of power and no accountability. They must be held accountable! Please include me if you move forward. I agree, I will boycott Rosemont till this is resolved.
ReplyDeleteI received a notification as well, I have called them three time for a court date and I never receive a return call. The stop line to too far back to see cross traffic, you HAVE to pull across the line to see if the coast is clear. The "fine" is due tomorrow and I will not pay it until I see an impartial judge!
ReplyDeleteOnly in Chicago, right? Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this is a scam. The white line is set so far back. No sign that says "Stop Here on Red". Clearly has more to do with generating revenue for the village, than safety. Village of Rosemont . . . what a joke. I'll pay the fine, but that will be the last time I spend a dime there. No more dinner meetings at Harry Carey's.
ReplyDeleteI turned right on red. The sign said no turn on red when pedestrians are present. No pedestrians so I turned. $100 for not breaking the law. They must be held accountable for this fraud.
ReplyDeleteI'm in. The sign says "NO TURN ON RED WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT" Clearly in my video at 12:57 AM there were not only no pedestrians present, but no other cars as well. I am from out of state and was leaving the airport.
ReplyDeleteI am really disapointed in the state of Illinois for contracting with this company wich according to the Herald is owned by an Israeli corporation who did sell the city on these cameras being a money making opperation.
Part of your lawsuit should require that if the state or city government wants to issue tickets for moving viloations they must own the equipment and prove that it operates within the legally posted restrictions. The legally posted restriction has to do with pedestrians, and this camera equipment is not sophisiticated enough to detect that. Nor is there a reasonable dispute process.
Any updates? I just got a mailed violation in the mail from these crooksters. No where does it say stop on white line on red. And since it is a turn lane that curves the corner, there is not expectation to stop on red. I saw the flash and then saw the stop on red when pedestrians present. There is no reason they should get away with this.
ReplyDeletei moved to chicago and never got the ticket from these cocksuckers now a collection agency is after my ass. fuck you rosemont, i am NEVER going to do anything in your fucking city.
ReplyDeleteSame here.. red light violation at corner of River and Higgins, just like some of you said, they put a red light camera on a merge right special lane. How do we unite and fight? I feel like driving back over there and cutting the fucking cameras down with a chain saw. our last what 3 governors scam millions of dollars and it takes years for them to get sentenced and yet we the people get nickled and dimed at every f*cking corner....
ReplyDeleteJust got this notice and the website doesn't even work so that I can view my video but I'm extremely confident that I am in the same situation as the rest of you. Did all of you try to contest and they denied the request?
ReplyDeleteIn the same boat. Complete rip-off. What's the status of the lawsuit? I'd like to join.
ReplyDeleteIm in too! Got the ticket yesterday! Im really mad!
ReplyDeleteCount me in, can't say more than "thieves"!
ReplyDeleteSomeone get this going please. Such a scam. Its a separate right turn lane, no one is present, the driver slows but still this stupid ticket. $100 for nothing. What a way to rip people off!
ReplyDeleteIs this going forward? I received a ticket in the mail and the pictures proved that I stopped behind the white line for 2 seconds, which is the law. They would not allow me to dispute the ticket under those terms. This is a scam operation.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say I stopped behind the white line before turning right on red.
DeleteIf anyone decides to collectively pursue this matter I will gladly participate. I agree with other posters. While the video does show that I didn't make a complete stop it was a merge lane which implies that you yield. Also the No Turn on Red sign is posted on the island to the left of the the turn lane which implies it's the 2nd lane that can't turn on red. Unreal . . .
ReplyDeleteReceived a call from NCO stating I owe City of Rosemont 100.00 for a red light violation. I will never pay this ticket. The represenative stated I didn't run the red light I merely turned right when the light was red and I paused but didnt make a complete stop. She failed to give me a website to check the video and the original ticket was never sent to my home address. VILLAGE OR ROSEMONT IL are crooks. Please post a contact number or email so I can join the class action law suit.
ReplyDeleteScrew the Big Brother and the Village of Rosemont...I own a large business in Wheeling...I will never have visiting customers and suppliers stay or eat in Rosemont again...Nor will I attend or participate in any Rosemont Expo shows again...I will not spend another dollar in Rosemont...Rosemont has been and still is run by a lot of lazt crooked bastards...
ReplyDeleteGot mine in the mail yesterday. $30 to Avis Rental as an admin fee for filing and affidavit to say it was my ticket, not theirs. So I am guessing I also have a fine to the Town of Rosemont too??? 5:30 am on the way to O'Hare for a flight. Unbelievable!!!! This was just fought is a town in SC called Ridgeland, and the people won. Might look to it for guidance to fight this.
ReplyDeleteThis is an absolute abuse of power and a complete money making scam. Is this class action lawsuit going forward?!
ReplyDeletethe truth is that rosemont village is giving red light tickets at this location and I am another victim, it is not fair that people of this nice state get nailed and pay fines invented for no reason.
ReplyDeletetown officials should look dipper at this abnormal events if they want to be elected or reelected as well.
that stop sign should read;STOP NO TURN ON RED.and erase the WHEN PEDESTRAINS ARE PRESSENT.frase if the truly idea is to serve and protect the public, not look for anther source of revenue for the village.
Received a "red light violation notice" from Village of Rosemont yesterday. While they have my license plate number correct, in the blurry picture they provide as "evidence" all other identifying information on the plate is blocked out, including the state (I live in Michigan). I've never driven in Rosemont (was there 14 years ago - flew), my car has never been out of Michigan. The video of the supposed violation shows clearly that it is NOT my car (the one shown is about 15 years older, different body style, different color). I have tried to contact Rosemont Public Safety, but so far am getting the runaround. I intend to file a complaint with the attorneys general of both Illinois and Michigan. I would gladly join a lawsuit if one goes forward!
ReplyDeleteLike many others, I got a red light violation for turning right on red at the intersection of River and Higgins where it clearly states "No Turn On Red When Pedestrians Are Present".
ReplyDeleteIs it even worth contesting? I would like to join the Class Action Law Suit with you guys.
I received a red light violation on River Road turning right on Devon on 09/18/12. I am from out of town. Does this intersection have a NO TURN ON RED WHEN PEDS ARE PRESENT??? I would like to be included in the law suit.
ReplyDeleteJust received a similar violation. I did stop before white line (albeit a few feet due to a vehicle in front of me) and I guess made what could be constituted as a rolling stop. Like others have mentioned, this is misleading for what appears to be a curved merge-type lane. I'm going to contest by mail, but it doesn't sound like anyone has had luck. I live out of state and wouldn't bother with paying if the contest doesn't go through, but I'm concerned with FICO implications of not paying. I'll probably end up bending over and taking it, but would be interested in joining a class action lawsuit. Has there been any progress?
ReplyDeleteI also recieved a red light violation on the corner of Mannheim and Higgins for a left turn on red to higgins when no pedestrians were present. I can not prove that the turn arrow had just turned green when I was almost into the intersection (over my left shoulder). This makes me MAD and I would gladly join the class action suit.
ReplyDeleteI was recently scammed would love to joing suit
ReplyDeleteThis is BS. 90% of the revenue goes to the company running the camera light. Ticketed without representation of a law enforcement officer. Sign for complete stop is stationed behind where one would stop before making a right turn on a red.
ReplyDeleteJust got my "prenotification" from AVIS who charged $30 for having to go through the prenotification process. This adds to the $100 for the redlight violation. Same issue, Mannheim and Higgins for a right turn. Will need to pay to prevent additional fines, but will keep an eye out to join if this case picks up representation.
ReplyDeleteJust got my first ticket ever in my life and I've been driving for 20 years, curtsey of Rosemont. Higgins and River Road right turn no pedestrians were present and in merging lane. I am disgusted and the fine is due Christmas Eve. If there is a law suit count me in.
ReplyDeleteForm the website of the city of Rosemont, IL, we can see that the red Light Cameras are listed:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.rosemont.com/red_light_camera_locations.php
Seems that they are not ashamed of enforcing drivers (mostly out of state) to pay fines from confusing road signs.
I also received a ticket at Higgins and River Road. There are several problems as I see it. 1) All the registered owners of the vehicle are responsible for the ticket. So they don't actually have to know who was driving the car. 2) They don't have to send the ticket using a method that assures that the recipient actually receives it. 3) The late penalties are usurious. 4) If you were not the one driving the car, you then have to turn around and get any money you paid out from the person who was driving the car...essentially prosecuting on behalf of the city, which I feel no one has the duty to do. 5) They claim to be able to suspend your dirver's license if you fail to pay. Exactly who's license can they suspend? If you aren't the driver, how can you be held responsible and have your license suspended?
ReplyDeleteI also was ticketed on River rd. I payed the fine and now have Northwest collectors INC. asking me for $200. Total B.S. Please do whatever you can to stop this fraud.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone moved forward on the law suit? Or been successful in contesting?
ReplyDeleteI just received my "Red Light Violation Notice" in the mail and after hours of researching, believe it is a scam. Has anyone called the Rosemont police to verify the legitamicy of these violations? The law states the violation must be clear recorded images, which mine are not, and must be made available by governmental agency's website, which they are not except the sketchy website: RedLightViolations.com which has an outdated privacy policy (from 2007) and terms and conditions (from 2009).Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI had just pulled out of the rental car company. I was driving in Rosemont for the first time. I was in the right lane which was a separate curved turning lane. I slowed down, yielded and saw no cars were coming and turned right. I will never vist Chicago again for vacation. I will avoid connecting flights that travel through Chicago. I just received a $200 NCI collections notice today. I got the ticket in October of 2012. Please count me in. This is a scam.
ReplyDeleteExact same thing happened to me, I lived in Chicago for 10 years. Been living in Asia for the last 9 for work. People always ask me how you deal with the corruption in South East Asia working. I always tell them that 10 years in Chicago was just good training. The beast of a government in and around Chicago can consume cash unlike any place in the States today. Is it any surprise that a inordinate number of the current federal administration are from the Chicago machine and we are bleeding out of cash as a nation at the fastest rate in history.
DeleteThe RedLightDoctordotcom knows how to beat the Rosemont Ripoff Tickets....
ReplyDeleteJust received a ticket for this light. Photos show no pedestrians! Please include me in this class action, I have a feeling my attempt to contest will fall short like others.
ReplyDeleteI am furious!! I also received a letter from Northwest Collectors for
ReplyDelete$200. I never received notice of a violation. Count me in...
Extortion: Unlawful exaction of money or property through intimidation or undue exercise of authority. It may include threats of physical harm, criminal prosecution, or public exposure.
ReplyDeleteThis is a scam. I just received the ticket for red light violation. This happened infront of the rental office... scam scam scam
ReplyDeleteCan anybody tell how to beat the ticket? A collection agency called and mailed me ticket re: red light.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor received a ticket and went to court where he was told that he had indeed stopped before turning red BUT he failed to count to five before proceeding. I was a traffic officer for over ten years and I never saw any law that stated that a motorist had to stop for any length of time just a complete stop of the wheels. Now maybe Rosemont has it,s own laws and don,t pay attention to the state laws.
ReplyDeleteAll the IL Vehicle Requires is "a complete cessation of movement". It does not specify how long a driver must remained stopped. which is consistent with other states. If a judge said that to me I would kindly ask him to show me the section of the law which requires how many seconds a driver must remained stopped. REDLIGHTDOCTORDOTCOM
ReplyDeleteI would like to join the suit, please let me know the details (menon.matt at gmail dot com)
ReplyDeleteI've received two "Red Light Violation Notice" two days apart from each other. The violation supposedly occurred during right turns on Rivers & Higgins N H1 as recently as June 11th and 13th of 2013. Prior to turning, I paused and read the sign on the light pole located at the intersection and the sign read "NO TURN ON RED WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT"; with that I proceeded to complete my right turn and have since received two violation notices. I have taken that route home several times over that past month and now I fear the receipt of more of those notices. Now, with the "Boot" law, two or more unpaid tickets qualify for a Boot. Is this a legitimate ticket? What can I do to fight this? There is no way, knowing the financial penalties of traffic violations, would I have deliberately violated a “No Turn On Red” sign, yet, I am being penalized for obeying the Terms of Condition of which one is directed to legally complete a Right turn during a Red traffic light at the Rivers & Higgins location. Please let me know what can be done about this.
ReplyDeleteAn egregious form of extortion. I have been lucky to have received a ticket for going through a red light at River Road and Higgins. I have made the turn many times throughout the past five years without ever having been ticketed. Is this village taking lunch money to fund a push to get the Cubs to locate there? Indeed the sign says that there is No Turn on Red ...When Pedestrians are Present. I thought the 5 second rule applied to food that fell on the floor not whether you get a $100 assessment. Shameful...Please let me know how to joint the class action law suit.
ReplyDeleteI received a call from Northwest Collectors regarding a right turn on red violation somewhere in Rosemont and you need to pay $200 dollars or else we will report you to credit bearu....I never received the ticket from the city so I would pay less for this ticke and never drive thru this city.
ReplyDeleteI live in another state...What is the phone number for the village of Rosemont Traffice dept...Will they do anything or drop the ticket down to $100 dollars like I see in this posting others have paied $100 dollars!
What is the status of the class action case?
I am with the guy above, I sent them a letter pleading ignorance of their law. Yes, I did roll up to the red light, and no cars were coming and went in this 4 sec video. Did not receive an response, and now sent to NCI, so I owe 200. I have a perfect 801 credit rating so obviously I am goign to pay it. Anyone successful to get them to drop from 200 down to 100? I'd happy to kick in another 100 in the class action suit just to prove a point. zoich(at)yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI would be there. Tickets for two "infractions" on separate days arrived in mail on the same day. Never doing business in Rosemont again.
ReplyDeleteI too would like to join the case. $100 is an out of control amount. My ticket was on August 14th coming home from my father's funeral. The video shows that I did not come to a complete 100% stop, but there was no traffic or people around. Tom Wessel
ReplyDeleteI would like to join. Just received a $100 violation and there were clearly no pedestrians present when I turned. J. Jones
ReplyDeleteI would also like to join this lawsuit. I clearly came to a complete stop and sat there for a minute before realizing I could make a right turn if NO PEDESTRIANS are present so I did. I got a $100 ticket in the mail. Such bullshit and I am not paying. My email is: towen06@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened to me at north ave and harlem, North Riverside. This is a scam and the people have got to stand up against this money making practice.
ReplyDeleteThey got me too on the right hand turn. Rosemont's pamphlet says that each "violation" is reviewed by a trained police officer. I find this hard to believe as a trained police officer would have better discretion to issue a ticket or not - unless there is a quota system in their police department. Please post updates about joining the class action.
ReplyDeleteMe too! Is there still a` suit?
ReplyDeletePlease `notify me
DeleteDoes anybody know if Rosemont is included in the class action suit going to the IL Supreme Court over the Chicago ordinance? If there is to be a separate one for Rosemont, include me: jer_steele@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI also left off that I am now in collection for this!
DeleteI got one also at Higgins & River road...what a sham! I was in the car but not driving they sent me a notice for red light violation for $1200... I contested it...I never received a reply and the next thing I knew I was getting a $200 ticket and the explanation stated that my explanation was not a valid one! First of all, It says on the ticket to notify them if you were not the driver...I did..I also stated that I was in the car we originally stopped a little too far back to see oncoming traffic in the right lane...we moved up & made the turn....It is a total scam....I asked to see the picture before the one that showed my car across the line & I was notified on the 2nd ticket that it was an invalid request! What????
DeleteReplyDelete
I was never notified that I had a ticket and they decided to take it out of my income tax check I'm in
ReplyDeleteSame thing as everyone else here as well, River and Higgins red light violation.
ReplyDelete'Duration of Red Signal Prior To Violation' was 63.7 seconds. There were no pedestrians present. I went back, took pictures, wrote a letter and am mailing it in today to contest. Any progress made on this, let me know!
I don't believe these cameras are reducing traffic accidents. Just ask the Mayor of Chicago and his detail who continue to drive through them. Enough is enough. The Village wants to eat with two forks. By the way, stay clear of the hillbilly bar in the south entertainment district of Rosemont. The beat up the people --then throw them out without any incident report(s). Don't look for an ambulance either if you need one. The June 2013' family brawl involving off duty officers was enough for me to stay clear. Tobey Keith does not need the funds that bad.
ReplyDeleteIf a traffic police officer observes you violating a traffic law, he pulls you over, asks for your driver's license and registration. He verifies your identity then issues a ticket with an explanation. Where does a red light camera verify your identity? Issuing a ticket without proper identification appears to be a civil rights violation? How do they verify that who the ticket is issued to was the actual driver? As minimum a second camera should be identifying who the driver was at the time of the violation. The police officer is required to verify identity prior to issuing a ticket, isn't he/she? Seems like a good idea to reduce the police staffing and layoff police officers.
ReplyDeleteA complete F'in joke. I pulled up to the intersection, pulled into the turn lane examined the oncoming traffic and looked for pedestrians. There were none on my side of the intersection. SO I proceeded to make my turn. I got my $100 fine in the mail. WHat a joke.
ReplyDeleteCity of Rosemont can kiss my ass. What a joke. No traffic coming, no pedestrians, so I turned.. wow.. just a way for the City of Rosemont to become an extension of the city of chicago. Theives!!!!! dont drop anything or they will rob you while you try to pick it up.. SUCK IT Rosemont!!!
I was shocked when my husband handed me a red light ticket.... corruptions and scam . Rosemont i am done take my $100.00 and stick it.the sign say no turn on red when pedestrian are crossing well there are no pedestrian crossing and i still got the ticket.
ReplyDeleteI just received yesterday a ticket from this intersection, I live in Michigan. Not only do I have an alibi that I wasn't there and then, but THEY HAVE THE WRONG COLOR CAR AND LICENSE PLATE. Just an added layer of B.S. that I'm going to have to deal with and would like to take action against this happening to others!
ReplyDeletei too got a ticket when i know that it says NO Turn On Red When Pedestrian are present there was not a soul in site but i got the stupid ticket. on top of that i just recieved my ticket yesterday and they said it was due last week
ReplyDeleteI got the same kind of tickets (2) at Rivers and Higgens for NO TURN ON RED WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT. I contested with picture but I still have to pay $ 200. If there is a lawsuit please notify me at iuliu_c2002@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteIf there is a class action lawsuit, count me in.
ReplyDeleteI am in too. They clearly have me on video going through a yellow light. I was visiting from Atlanta and Hertz notified me of the ticket. Of course to contest it has to be done in person. I'm paying it but the DA's office will be hearing from me. Count me in!!
ReplyDeleteI received a notice of the Red Light violation at River Rd and Higgins.
ReplyDeleteI went to contest this; with photos to substantiate my claim of innocence, that I did indeed STOP before turning right on the red light.
I explained that the three seconds between the two photos show that I came to a stop... while a vehicle going from right to left has entered and was now leaving the intersection.
The hearing officer said those were not seconds but hundredths of a second.
Unless that other vehicle could travel at the speed of light, to cover that distance of over 120ft in three hundredths (.03)of a second, I claim that I stopped before proceeding on the right turn.
The hearing officer said I was liable.
My photographic evidence was for naught.
(The video could be 'upped' just a fraction without appearing to fast forward but it will indicate that the vehicle did not stop. It would take a forensic video expert to break it down to milliseconds to prove this 'theory'.)
The hearing officer said I could appeal this decision once I received the decision in the mail.
I received the Notice of Findings.
The fine print indicates that one can appeal by filing a civil lawsuit against the Village of Rosemont.
That cost is $82.70 and is probably not refundable.
I will send a check for $100.00 to pay this "violation".
If I am ever in that intersection again, hopefully not soon, I will come to a stop and not proceed until the light is green.
As a previous comment was made:
If the person behind honks their horn, I will ask them it they will pay for the $100.00 and if so, I will proceed.
Received violation last winter and just had the pleasure of opening the collection notice. I contested the original notice in writing and requested a hearing. My contention was based on the video was dated January 1st, 2015 at 4:32 in the afternoon at which time I was home in West Bend, WI watching the Badgers play in the Outback Bowl. I was in Rosemont 3 weeks later taking my 84 year old mother and her friend to the Rivers Casino. I valet parked my car at approximately 10:00am and left for Wisconsin at around 3:15pm. This can be verified by the State of Illinois in the Fast Pass toll records which will also verify that my vehicle did not pass into Illinois on Jan. 1st. I agree that the photo taken was of my vehicle but that it was not on the 1st as imprinted on the video the time being also incorrect, disemboweling the credibility of the cities evidence, and that my vehicle was traveling away from the casino obviously driven by a valet attendant making a coffee or McDonald s run! In my letter I requested the police to investigate this as an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle by its owner. I never received a hearing date or much less a response. No request by the Rosemont Police Department to investigate a possible real crime. At that point my feeling was that it just adds to the story of what a scam this is. The city trying to collect a buck without due process of law and just ignoring and forgetting about anyone who wants to contest; take the suckers money and run. I am the director of sales for a heating equipment company and used to attend functions at hotels and the convention center, entertained clients, stayed at hotels before flying out of O'hare, shopped myself and took my family down for weekends to shop at the fashion outlet and to shows and events at the theatre and Allstate Arena along with all the restaurant meals. I was so mad after getting that ticket I actually took the time to go through all of my credit card statements from 2014; $5,827.12! Needless to say I have not been to Rosemont since then and never will again. I meet with area customers elsewhere, I take my family for weekend trips downtown for shopping, dining and the theatre, and stay at the Hyatt on Wacker. Most importantly we take the train from Milwaukee. radiantelectricheat@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteReceived violation last winter and just had the pleasure of opening the collection notice. ReplyDeleteput me in.how they can give you a ticket when your not even in the car is crap.total scam.figures coming from a shit state like Illinois.good people but piece of shit city.
ReplyDeleteWell, www.RedLightViolations.com got me and so did Rosement, Illinois. I travel to Rosemont about every four weeks to meet friends for dinner. Sometimes we see a show. After this ticket...WE WILL NEVER GO BACK! First they ticketed a friend at the same intersection last summer. This time (March 2016) it was me. I even knew this intersection had a "red light camera" (Higgins and River Rd). The way I "stopped" and made a right on a red would have been no different had a police officer been parked at the light watching me. I slowed to a near stop, maybe 1 mile per hour, then turned right. That's how drivers drive. We've been doing it that way forever! A police office would NOT have issued a ticket if they witnessed this turn in person. Now drivers are forced to change behaviors. That's hard to do. What's not hard to do is find a new spot for dinner. Rosemont, you don't have an exclusive on that. Rosement, since this is how you treat visitors, We will NEVER be back.
ReplyDeleteReceived red light violation notice on April 26, 2016. Question can I ask for the Alogormithm in In the computer that does all the calculation under freedom of information act
ReplyDeleteI just received my BS ticket today. I'd like to join your suit. My video shows a yellow arrow disappearing just as I begin to turn (you know, when I'd be looking left at the last second to make sure there is no traffic coming). Illinois also has that shitty toll near Touhy in Rosemonet that is an obvious money grab. If there's still a suit I can be reached at reedbill99@yahoo.com.
ReplyDeleteI will pay to avoid penalty. Please include my name in the lawsuit. There were clearly no pedestrians present in my video. The car behind me did not stop either. It's a turn that is not clear and clearly a trap. This is the states way to collect revenue. This is unconstitutional!!

DeleteI am with you.. go for it
ReplyDeleteJust received a ticket today from last month.
ReplyDeleteGoogled the spot and found this article from February.
Over 2 million dollars made in 3 years from this redlight trap. The sign is confusing. We thought that we could turn when no pedestrians were present!
